Satima's LJ - My new web page

May. 12th, 2008 12:11 am My new web page

I've just put up a new web page about my editing activites. Go and have a look here and see what you think. I'd be pleased to have feedback as web page construction and marketing are both very peripheral to my experience:-)

And I've waffled on at length on this and other matters on my real blog.

Hi Satima,

Just had a look at your web site and I really like the layout. Can't say the same about the bright red though. It's all right for the text but perhaps you could turn down the brilliance for the background of the title bar.

Thanks, Phill. What colour would look better, do you think?

Satima,

Before I forget there's an embarrassing typo I thought I should point out. And before you start panicking, its probably not one of your's :-). On my browser the window name has 'edditing' instead of 'editing'. This is part of the hypertext markup, not part of the text itself, so I would talk to Scott about this.

The following link is to a palette of web-friendly colours.

Web Friendly Colours

They are called 'web friendly' because they have been chosen by an official standards committee and therefore are supported by most software developers and hardware manufacturers. If you want to have the same look across most platforms these are the colours to choose from.

I would suggest that for the background of the title bar you choose something between the colour of your page background and the red you are currently using. Note, just in case Scott doesn't know, the #?????? codes for these colours can be put into the html instead of colour names.

Hope this helps.

Phill.

Many thanks, Phill. The "edditing" I caught last night and it should be OK now - I hope so! I'll get Scott to have a play with the header colour. Maybe a peachy kind of shade would look OK.

Funny, every time I read it I find more things to change. I guess it will always be a WIP!
